I ended up taking 4 sachets and it was still very painful. Have tried it 3 times now and the rest are in the bin.
I was given Movicol by my doctor for chronic constipation but all it did was soften the stool but did not help me eliminate. I am better off on Senokot as it gives the urge to eliminate which Movicol does not.
Hi.I had Anal fissure. The doctor prescribed me Syp Movicol. It gave me easy, once daily evacuation, stools being soft. But after 1 month I felt severe pain in my abdomen, nausea, and rumbling of bowels. These symptoms came like a bolt out of blue and there was no premonition. The pain recurred on next day morning also though less in intensity. The pain decreased with vomiting and on eating something.I want to know how long the side effect of pain abdomen last after stopping Movicol. And does it enhances side effects of Metformin?
Hi there, I was prescribed Movicol to regulate my bowel movements. I have tried various treatments over the years and nothing seems to work. It got that bad I was losing a lot of water from laxatives but not being able to pass a proper movement and the pain was unbearable. I researched Glycerine Suppositories and found they sell 12 in boots for £3.49. They worked straight away and prevented a trip to A&E. I recommend one suppository every 24 hours until the blockage is clear. Lots of water and eating in small amounts, chewing and cutting your food until small pieces until you can get back to regular movements. Thanks.
I am so relieved I looked this up and found others hVe the same problems as me. I was prescribed it for constipation and after one movement it has steadily had the opposite effect. I also have a unexplained rash. As i looked on the label and it said sodium and bicarb etc, I took it as fairly ordinary, nothing overtly alarming in that.
But I didn’t read the leaflet inside, which says stop if you get a rash. It writes also swollen ankles and Breathing difficulties even!!
